Vodafone launches first 4G smartphone in Portugal

Vodafone today launched the first 4G smartphone commercially available in Portugal. The HTC Velocity LTE, a Vodafone exclusive, can connect to 4G/LTE technology and supports download speeds up to 100 Mbps.

The HTC Velocity LTE comes with the Android operating system, a 4.5” Super LCD screen, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 16 GB of internal memory, 8 MP main camera with Full HD 1080p support and 1.3MP front camera.

This 4G smartphone enables the use of a range of applications for which faster download speeds and latency are very important factors, for example, real-time video, Mobile TV, HD games, online multiplayer games, Vodafone Music and Vodafone Cloud.

The HTC Velocity LTE is available from Vodafone shops today for €509.90, in the online shop for €499.90 or at lower prices with a 24-month contract associated with a Best plan and a Best 4G Aditivo. It is also available on special terms for professional and business customers.

The first 4G Router in Portugal- the Huawei B593 – was also launched today, which enables users to share a 4G mobile broadband connection of up to 100 Mbps with a group of users over a Wi-Fi network. The Huawei B593 4G Router can be purchased in Vodafone shops from €200.11 and in the online shop for €187.81, with a 50% discount on the monthly charge for the new 4G price plans for 24 months.

After launching the first 4G tablet yesterday, and earlier launching the first 4G pen in Portugal, Vodafone is once again breaking new ground by launching the first 4G smartphone and the first 4G router in the market. Vodafone will continue to offer other 4G mobile devices as they become available commercially.

As with earlier mobile communications technologies, Vodafone is leading the development of 4G in Portugal, providing the country with the infrastructures to meet increasing demand in terms of speed and data volumes and providing new services to its customers via smartphones, tablets, laptops and other devices.
